In recent years Aston Martin have been focusing a lot more on establishing their brand in the racing world, for a long time they have been competitive in Le Mans and GT racing but we now see the winged badge on Formula one cars for the first time and they are cleverly using this research and development gained from motorsport in the long awaited Valkyrie hypercar project.

But, it’s not just Valkyrie that is benefiting, we are now seeing this motorsport derived tech and engineering finding its way into the showroom’s in the form of Aston Martin’s AMR range, and it seems to really be working for them as reading the reviews on the DB11 AMR it is clear to see that this is a very different car to the standard DB11.

It’s not all about power, and whilst the DB11 AMR has the addition of 30bhp over the standard car its actually the chassis tweaks that have really transformed how this car drives. Stiffer rear sub-frame bushings, a thicker front anti roll bar and the damper rates being firmed by 10% front and rear make the car feel more planted and inspire a lot more confidence in the right foot.

There is no denying the team at Aston’s racing division have also had their input on materials used in the cabin, it’s tastefully adorned in generous helpings of carbon fibre and Alcantara which all help you feel a little more like Sebastian Vettel when in the driving seat.
