In 2017 Mercedes-Benz unveiled a limited edition variant of their flagship sportscar the AMG GT to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the performance subsidiary AMG. This model, known as the Edition 50 is limited to just 500 cars worldwide with only 250 coupes and 250 convertibles being produced.

The 'Edition 50' sits between the AMG GT R and the AMG GT S building on the GT C features with the addition of forged alloys, dynamic plus package with active engine/transmission mounts and stiffer suspension, quilted nappa leather seats and trim, the Burmester Surround Sound System, interior night package and special satin paint with dark chrome trim as standard. This model also has unique badging which is continued in the cabin with the 'Edition 50' logo being embossed in the seat headrests and as a subtle reminder of what a rare car you are sitting in, the Alcantara trimmed steering wheel is stamped "1 of 500".

The concept for this model is to essentially take all the most desirable features and options in the GT range and elevate the C above the AMG GT and GT S. It borrows the wider rear track and bodywork from the track-ready GT R and uses Mercedes-Benz rear-wheel steering system to improve the car's agility at low speeds and increase stability at high speeds, adaptive dampers and electronically controlled limited-slip differential. The GT C Edition 50 produces 80 bhp more than standard AMG GT to total 549 bhp and 502 lb ft of torque.
